A string of e-mails is beginning to tie the White House, specifically political advisor Karl Rove, to inquiries about the firing of eight U.S. attorneys. Meanwhile, a second Republican, Senator Gordon Smith of Oregon, has called for U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to step down.
