Easter Rising: An Irish-American Coming Up from Under
Easter Rising...Out of Southie
Story aired: Wednesday, March 21, 2007

Author Michael Patrick MacDonald took us on a car tour of his old stomping grounds. He grew up the youngest of eleven in the Old Colony Housing projects. If South Boston was insulated, the projects felt barricaded, keeping outsiders out and Southie residents in. One of MacDonald's brothers was mentally ill and committed suicide; two other brothers died in violent acts. MacDonald has written a book about he escaped...through punk rock.
His book is titled: "Easter Rising: An Irish-American Coming Up from Under."
