The British government says it is seeking United Nations condemnation of Iran's seizure of 15 British sailors and marines in disputed waters in the northern Persian Gulf.

For its part Iran warns it might put the British Navy crew on trial.

Iran says the British crew was in its waters. Britain maintains the crew was in Iraqi waters when it was seized last week.
