Leahy Questions Lost E-Mails Claim
Story aired: Friday, April 13, 2007

Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy, chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, says the White House excuse for lost e-mails is sounding like "the dog ate my homework" excuse.

The e-mails, at the center of the investigation into the firing of eight federal prosecutors, were sent on Republican National Committee accounts, which Democrats say, should only have been used for non-governmental business.

The White House and the RNS say it is a system mistake.
