When Sly Stone made his appearance at the Grammy Awards in 2006, younger viewers might have wondered what all the fuss was about.
The mohawk hair seemed out of place and the artist out of it.
But this is the organist whose hits "I Want to Take You Higher" and "Dance to the Music" anchored rock radio for over 30 years. Now Sony's Legacy label has remastered the seven albums Sly and his Family Stone built their reputation on in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
