Boston's Mayor Thomas Menino has proposed stripping convicted gun offenders of their right to drive for up to five years in the wake of a surge in shootings that's also been seen in other cities.

Critics say most offenders have already lost their license for other reasons.

Meanwhile, families that have lost loved ones to shootings struggle with the lack of arrests and the frequent feeling that they are forgotten by police and prosecutors. Here & Now's David Boeri visited one such family in Boston.
