Rendition Hearings
Story aired: Wednesday, April 25, 2007

Congressional hearings are not usually riveting. But one characterized as revealing, was held last week.

The House hearing was called "Extraordinary Rendition in U.S. Counterterrorism Policy: The Impact on Transatlantic Relations."

Rendition is the practice of asking foreign allies to seize suspected terrorists abroad, then turn them over to U.S. officials who move them to secret prisons where U.S. laws on torture don't apply.

We review the hearings with Jeff Stein, national security editor for Congressional Quarterly.
