Oscar the Cat seems to have a sixth sense when it comes to predicting the demise of the next resident at the Steere House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Providence, Rhode Island. In fact, the two year-old, gray and white cat has seemed to predict the death of more than 25 people at the facility's dementia unit. When Oscar curls up with a patient, the staff rushes to call the family, as death normally comes within four hours of a visit from Oscar. We talk to Dr. David Dosa, who wrote an essay about Oscar for today's New England Journal of Medicine.
