New suits are sleeker than what these space travelers are wearing.
Suiting Up
Story aired: Wednesday, September 05, 2007

An astronaut leaving the protection of a spacecraft is encumbered with 300 hundred lbs. of suit and various gear.

This bulk might not be a huge problem in the vastness of space, where the lack of gravity makes it manageable, but conditions on the surface of planets or the moon might cause a wardrobe malfunction.

MIT's Dava Newman hopes she has found away around the problem with a skin tight model that offers the same protection. Here & Now's Chris Cuffe went to find out more.
