New Refugee Crisis in Balkans Story aired: Monday, October 08, 2007
In Kosovo, tensions are rising between the province's two million ethnic Albanians and 120-thousand Serbs. Ethnic Albanians, backed by the US and the EU, are pushing for independence in Kosovo, but Serbia wants to hang on to its province, and is counting on its ally, Russia, for support.
Representatives from the US, Russia and the EU are scheduled to meet this week in the latest effort to decide Kosovo's fate, but if talks don't go well, there are concerns of renewed violence that could end with the minority Serbs leaving the troubled area.
