All Eyes on Thompson
Story aired: Tuesday, October 09, 2007

Does the candidate who has had to request audience applause have what it takes to win the GOP presidential nomination? Republican presidential hopeful Fred Thompson will participate in his first debate with the other GOP contenders in Dearborn, Michigan. Candidates' positions on economic issues will be on the agenda. After getting off to a highly publicized start and rising quickly in the polls, Thompson, the former senator from Tennessee and "Law and Order" television actor, has stumbled a bit in the last two weeks. Robin Young talks with David Whitford, Editor-at-Large for Fortune Magazine. Whitford, who spent time with the Thompson campaign last week in Iowa, discusses Thompson's voter appeal.
