China Communist Party Congress

The 17th Communist Party Congress will meet this week in Beijing at the Great Hall of the People in Tiananmen Square. Chinese president Hu Jin Tao and China's political elite will anoint their successors. This event happens only once every 5 years, and may set China's political course for the next 20 years. Newsweek's Beijing bureau chief, Melinda Liu speculates on the possible choices of the congress, and what the new leaders may mean for China's future.
