Paul Krugman
Paul Krugman
Story aired: Wednesday, October 24, 2007

In his new book "The Conscience of a Liberal" New York Times columnist Paul Krugman traces three generations of American history and finds a causal relationship between today's rise in income equality and the political polarization of the nation. Krugman tells Here and Now host Robin Young that we are in a new Gilded Age with runaway CEO salaries and the widening gap between the rich and poor. He says the time is ripe for another great era of reform, akin to the New Deal, and he spells out how Democrats can seize the moment.
