King Ranch
Story aired: Tuesday, October 30, 2007

As Congress debates the farm bill, we take a look inside the biggest cattle ranch in the United States. According to the Environmental Working Group, the King Ranch in southern Texas has received millions of dollars in federal subsidies to grow a relatively small cotton crop.

Is this an abuse of taxpayer money or a valiant effort to save land from development?

Texas Monthly writer Sam Gwynne was allowed a rare look inside the ranch. He joins us to tell us what he found.
