College students in Missouri are trucking in 15 tons of coal to show what it takes to power their institutions for an hour. Students at Boston Latin Academy are using blue tape in their hallways to mark how high seawater would be if the ocean rose 20 feet. They are joining students at 1500 high schools and colleges in a teach-in on global warming today, called Focus the Nation. We speak with high school students in Greenwich, Connecticut and Phoenix, Arizona. We also speak with a high school student in Choteau, Montana, where because of opposition in the town, the school superintendent recently cancelled a talk to be given by the Montanan who lead the United Nations research on global climate change. We also speak to Professor Edward Maibach, senior author of a new survey of public opinion on global warming. Maibach is director of the Center of Excellence in Climate Change Communication Research at George Mason University.
