Measuring the Economy
Story aired: Friday, April 25, 2008

The real economy is worse than the numbers say it is, according to our guest, Kevin Phillips. Phillips argues that the government has been using increasingly deceptive methods on key statistics like unemployment and inflation for 40 years, all to make things look better than they are. Phillips's new book is "Bad Money: Reckless Finance, Failed Politics and the Global Crisis of American Capitalism."
