Swat Moms
Story aired: Thursday, May 08, 2008

Almost half of all women who leave the workforce to have children never return. But they would if they could find flexible work that challenges their talents and offers a chance for networking. So staffing companies are now mobilizing highly educated and experienced stay-at-home moms to do high-powered, short-term jobs. They're called "Swat Moms" for "smart women with available time." We speak with former television executive, Donnabeth Leffler of Kerry, North Carolina, about her "Swat Mom" experience and with Wall Street Journal columnist, Sue Shellenbarger, who wrote about this new workplace trend in her Wall Street Journal column.
