The Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department announced a series of measures today to help restore confidence in banks. But what is the state of America's banks as they go through the worst crisis since the savings and loan meltdown of the 1980s? We speak with John Cassidy, he's a staff writer at The New Yorker and the monthly Economics columnist for Conde Nast Portfolio Magazine.
