Disabled Children and Politics
Story aired: Tuesday, October 21, 2008

How are families with disabled children responding to Sarah Palin? Governor Palin and her husband are the parents of a child who has Down Syndrome. She has promised to work for families with children with special needs if she becomes Vice President.

We speak with Pamela Ross of Washington, North Carolina, about Palin's candidacy and what it means for her and her family. Ms. Ross also has a child with Down Syndrome.

We also speak with Professor Marty Krauss of Brandeis University. She gives a historical perspective about how administrations have dealt with the disabilities community and looks forward to what is possible in the next administration.
